Security spending in Nigeria doesn't wait for a good month. What opened this category up was losing the cable. Panel on top, battery inside, two screws into a gate post or a block wall, and the thing keeps working whether or not the compound has light that night. Installers used to own this product. Now it sells over a counter in Onitsha to people who will climb the ladder themselves.

The mistake almost every first-time buyer makes here is shopping on resolution. 4K on the box, 8MP on the listing, and the sensor behind it often supports neither. Even where the sensor is honest, think about who is watching. A household on a mobile data bundle can't stream 4K and wouldn't want to pay for it if it could. The bigger stream also fills the memory card faster, so the customer quietly loses days of history and has no idea why. A well-chosen 2K camera with a decent sensor beats a badly built 4K one on every measure the owner actually cares about. Stock the 2K.
What's pictured is a pair of outdoor cameras, each carrying its own photovoltaic panel and internal battery, talking to a phone app over WiFi. No trunking to run, no recorder box sitting in a cupboard, no electrician to book, and nothing chased into a wall. Footage lands on a memory card inside the camera, with an optional cloud plan on top for most builds.
Two specifications decide whether your customer is still happy six weeks later. Night performance is the first, because nearly everything a camera gets bought for happens after dark. Colour night vision with a spotlight is a real step up from plain infrared and you can see the difference on a sample in about ten seconds. Motion detection is the second. A camera that pings its owner every time a branch moves gets muted within a week, and a muted camera protects nothing. Human detection instead of generic motion sensing is the fix, and it's worth insisting on even when it costs a little more.
Two Nigerian realities that listings never mention. The uplink is one. These cameras are only as good as the router behind them, and a compound running off a tired MiFi signal will get stuttering playback whatever the sensor does. Say that at the point of sale and you save yourself the argument later. The cloud subscription is the other. People sign up in month one, notice the debit in month three, cancel in month four and go back to the memory card like everyone else. Sell the card capacity. Treat the cloud as a bonus.
One last thing, the kind nobody warns you about. A buyer around Sabon Gari came back in January saying his cameras were flat by evening. Batteries were fine. Harmattan dust had filmed over the panels and cut the charge right down. A wipe every few weeks and a sensible mounting angle sorts it out, and it costs you nothing to put that on a slip inside the box.

Minimum order
The floor is 50 units, taken across the whole shipment. Mix them however suits you. Fixed bullets for doorways, pan-tilt heads for open compounds, different battery sizes, it all counts toward one fifty. On a first order mixing is the sensible move, because a shop front and a walled compound want different cameras and you won't know your split until you've sold some. What shifts above 100 is mostly paperwork arithmetic. NCC type approval and the SONCAP file cost the same for 50 cameras as for 500, so every unit past the first hundred thins that fixed cost and pulls the landed price per camera down with it.
Lead time. Standard builds in plain packaging usually reach Lagos in about 20 to 28 days by sea, allowing for consolidation and for the NCC file running alongside production. Air is faster on paper and rarely worth it here, since the lithium cells put the freight rate up sharply. Add roughly two weeks for your own branding on the housing or a printed retail box. Then allow for Apapa on top of all of it. Clearing plus the crawl out through Lagos traffic can add days that have nothing to do with the factory.
What decides the right one
Start with the number, since that's the part people argue with. Fifty.
The reason is the certification stack. NCC type approval, the SONCAP Product Certificate and the battery documentation are charged per shipment rather than per camera, and together they are not small. Spread over ten cameras they make your landed price look ridiculous. Over fifty they get absorbed. Past a hundred they stop mattering much at all. Fifty is simply where the arithmetic starts working in your favour instead of against you.
Work backwards from that and the rest of this page explains itself. At fifty units a factory will build to your instruction, which means you pick the sensor, the night vision type, whether the head pans, the battery capacity, the card support and the app behind it. Under fifty you take their standard build, and their standard build exists to hit a price.

How many do I have to order?

Do these need NCC approval?
Yes. The WiFi radio makes them regulated devices, so NCC type approval sits alongside SONCAP. We arrange both, but the file has to open before the container sails.
Should I stock 4K?
Probably not. Much of it isn't genuine 4K anyway, and your customer's data bundle and memory card both suffer for it. Good 2K with proper night vision is the smarter stock and it will generate fewer complaints.
Does it still run when the power goes?
That is the entire point of the panel and the internal cell, so yes, the camera keeps going. Remote viewing still needs the router up, though. If the customer's router is on mains only, they lose the live feed even while the camera carries on recording.
Why do buyers complain about false alerts?
Generic motion sensing. Wind, rain, a cat, a shadow moving across a wall. Human detection removes most of it, and we would rather quote a camera that has it than a cheaper one that doesn't.
What happens to the solar panel in harmattan?
It keeps charging, just less. Dust films over the surface and output drops, so a wipe every few weeks matters more here than in most markets. Better your customers hear that from you than discover it in January.
