Professional Procurement Preparation
A supplier’s price is the smallest part of the decision. By the time a machine or a container of material reaches your gate, freight, duty, clearing and haulage have reshaped that figure, and none of it tells you whether the purchase will actually earn.
Advanced Import Analysis is for buyers who have moved past wondering. You know roughly what you want. What you need now is the specification checked, the supplier assessed, the FOB price tested against the market, and the full cost built before your money leaves the country.
What is included
- Requirement review and product assessment
- Supplier identification, approach and assessment
- Specification breakdown against your capacity, power supply and intended output
- FOB validation against market pricing
- Shipping and clearance implications
- Landed cost, built line by line
- Cost intelligence and feasibility
- Procurement preparation
Cost Intelligence
This is the part clients tell us afterwards they did not know they needed.
A product can be cheap at the factory and still lose money. What decides it is consumption, competition, the exchange rate, what the same item already sells for here, and whether the business can carry it beyond one cycle.
Consumption
For raw materials, packaging and production inputs, we work out how much material each finished unit actually uses. Consumption per unit, the cost that puts into each product, wastage, and whether the usage holds up at volume.
What does each finished product really consume?
Margin
Supplier price alone tells you nothing about profit. We work through what survives the journey. Supplier pricing against the market, freight, the exchange rate at the point you will actually pay, clearing, and the production cost your consumption figures imply.
After everything, does this still make business sense?
Competition and market
Often the thing you intend to import is already sold or made here. We look at what it currently sells for, who is selling it, what local alternatives exist, and where you would sit among them.
Is importing the better route, or is local sourcing?
Import against local
Where the product is available in Nigeria, we compare the two properly. Availability, total cost over time, competitiveness, and the operational difficulty of each. Sometimes the answer is that you should not import at all, and we will tell you so.
The long view
Some products are profitable once and difficult thereafter. Recurring costs, production inefficiency, price pressure and supply risk decide whether an opportunity survives its second cycle. Where that applies, we set it out before you commit rather than after.
How it works
1. Requirement and product review
We begin with what you are actually trying to achieve. Product, intended use, quantity, specification, and the production purpose behind it. Machinery, packaging, raw material and commercial inventory each need a different line of questioning, and this stage settles which one applies.
2. Product direction and FOB assessment
We establish the estimated or actual FOB value. Everything after this rests on that figure, so it is settled first rather than assumed.
3. Commitment deposit
A deposit of 10% of the total FOB value is payable at this point, before procurement preparation begins.
It is not an additional charge. It covers the supplier communication, product assessment, costing review and analysis that follow, and if the purchase proceeds it comes off your final landed cost.
4. Analysis and procurement preparation
The work itself. Supplier engagement, specification review, shipping and clearance implications, landed cost, and the cost intelligence set out above, to the depth the purchase warrants.
5. Your decision
You decide with the whole picture in front of you.
If you proceed, the deposit is deducted from your total landed cost. If you decide against the purchase after preparation has begun, the deposit is not returned, because the sourcing, supplier engagement and costing work has already been carried out on your behalf.
