Used Audi Q7 SUV

Seven seats on a 3,001 mm wheelbase with 201 mm of ground clearance and permanent quattro. Two engines, and the badge on the boot means something different here from what it means in Europe. Left hand drive as built, 2015 or newer. One unit is a normal order.

Description

Start with the thing that catches importers on this car, because it is worth money.

Audi's numeric badges do not mean the same thing in every market. In China, a Q7 badged 45 TFSI has a 2,995 cc turbocharged V6 making 333 PS. In Europe, a Q7 badged 45 TFSI has a 2.0 litre four. Same two digits, entirely different engine. The Chinese car that matches Europe's 45 TFSI is badged 40 TFSI, and it is a 1,984 cc four making 252 PS.

That is not trivia. Nigeria's green tax, in force since 1 July 2026, charges nothing below 2,000 cc and two per cent from 2,000 to 3,999 cc. So a Chinese 40 TFSI Q7 lands in the free band and a Chinese 45 TFSI Q7 does not, and anyone reading the boot badge with European habits will get the tax band wrong on a vehicle at this value. We read the certificate, not the badge.

Beyond that, the Chinese Q7 is the Q7. There is no long wheelbase version, and China imported no diesel. The body is 5,069 mm long on a 3,001 mm wheelbase, and the Chinese certificate publishes the ground clearance, which most do not: 201 mm fully laden on both engines. On Nigerian roads that number matters more than the power figure.

The 40 TFSI makes 185 kW and 370 N.m through an eight speed automatic with permanent quattro, and returns 8.5 litres per 100 km on the Chinese cycle. The 45 TFSI makes 245 kW and 440 N.m and returns 9.1. Trim reads Comfort, Technology and S line Sport.

It is left hand drive as built. Under the twelve year rule 2014 is the oldest year that can legally land in 2026, and we work to 2015 and newer.

On what Nigerians say about running an Audi here, we have not softened it. It is below.

Read the certificate, not the boot badge

The badge trap, stated once more because it costs real money. A Chinese 45 TFSI Q7 is a 2,995 cc V6 and pays two per cent green tax. A Chinese 40 TFSI Q7 is a 1,984 cc four and pays nothing. In Europe those badges mean the opposite thing. If a supplier quotes you a Q7 by its badge alone, they do not know which engine they are selling you.

What Nigerian owners say about Audi. Nairaland's Audi threads are the least friendly of the three German marques, with advice ranging from buy one only if you have a second car to do not go near it without a qualified mechanic. Reported faults include timing belt failure escalating into valve damage. We are repeating that rather than burying it, because you should hear it from us and not afterwards.

The two real wear items on this engine family. Carbon builds on the intake valves between 80,000 and 100,000 km on both the 2.0 and the 3.0, because direct injection means no fuel washes them. The fix is walnut shell blasting with the manifold off. The plastic water pump and thermostat housing crack at roughly 130,000 to 160,000 km, the V6 especially.

The one that is expensive if you buy the V6. On the 3.0 the timing chain sits at the back of the engine, so reaching the tensioner means removing the gearbox. Cold start rattle with codes P0016 to P0019 is the warning. On the 2.0 the same job is far cheaper. That is one more argument for the 40 TFSI beyond the tax band.

And the gearbox fluid claim to ignore. The eight speed is described as having a lifetime fill. Change it every 60,000 to 80,000 km regardless. Every workshop that has opened one of these will tell you the same.

Audi has no official distributor in Nigeria that we can point you to. Workshops advertising Audi diagnostics exist, and some are good, but few publish what equipment they hold. Find yours before you buy the car, not after. If you cannot, buy something else and we will help you do that instead.

Specification

Figures are Chinese-market homologation data for the model years we source. Badge numbers are not portable between markets, so we quote engine codes and displacement rather than trim badges. The specific unit is checked against its own paperwork before we quote.

Transmission ZF eight speed automatic with permanent quattro
Ground clearance 201 mm fully laden, published on the Chinese certificate for both engines. This is a sourced figure, not an estimate

We do not publish prices, because the landed figure depends on the specification, the Customs valuation and the exchange rate on the day you pay.

Minimum order

One unit. Vehicles carry no minimum order quantity, so a single vehicle is a normal order and we handle it the same way as a fleet purchase.

Where you are buying several, consolidating into one shipment reduces the cost per unit. A forty foot container ships at a flat rate whatever is inside it, and that rate divides across the vehicles in it. Freight also forms part of the CIF value duty is calculated on, so the saving reaches the duty bill as well as the shipping invoice.

A large SUV takes real volume, so the container maths is tight here. We quote container and roll on roll off side by side and tell you which wins at your quantity.

Lead time. About six to eight weeks quay to quay on the Lagos route, plus one to two weeks at origin for inspection, diagnostic scan, export paperwork and loading, and a further period for clearing and the drive out of the port. On used units the time before shipment depends on finding the right car rather than on manufacture.

What decides the right one

Whether you have an Audi mechanic. On this marque in this country that is not a formality, and Nigerian owners are blunt about what happens to people who buy first and look afterwards.

Then the engine, read from the certificate rather than the badge. The 1,984 cc 40 TFSI pays no green tax, drinks less and is cheaper to repair at the timing chain. The 2,995 cc 45 TFSI is faster and costs more in every other column.

Then the seats, five or seven, which is not something you add later.

Then the mileage against the two wear points: carbon on the intake valves from around 80,000 km and the plastic water pump housing from around 130,000 km. A car past those numbers is not a bad car, but those jobs belong in the price you agree rather than in a surprise six months later.

And if the honest requirement is a large seven seat SUV that is cheap to keep, say so. The answer is a Highlander, and we will tell you that even though it is the smaller sale.

Common questions

What is the minimum order?

One unit. Vehicles carry no minimum order quantity, so a single vehicle is a normal order and we handle it the same way as a fleet purchase.

Does ordering more than one reduce the cost?

Yes, on freight and clearing. A forty foot container ships at a flat rate whatever is inside it, and that rate divides across the vehicles in it. Freight also forms part of the CIF value duty is calculated on, so the saving reaches the duty bill as well as the shipping invoice. This is a large SUV, so we quote container and roll on roll off side by side.

Which engine should I take?

The 40 TFSI, on every practical count. It pays no green tax, uses less fuel, and its timing chain is reachable without dropping the gearbox. The 45 TFSI is quicker and is the one most Chinese buyers chose. Quicker is the only column it wins.

How do I check which engine a car actually has?

By the certificate and the engine code, CYR for the 1,984 cc four and CRE for the 2,995 cc V6, not by the badge. We send you both before you commit.

Is 201 mm enough for Nigerian roads?

For potholes, speed bumps and flooded urban roads, comfortably. It is an on road figure on an air sprung car, so it is not a substitute for a body on frame vehicle if the job is genuinely rough.

Can I get a diesel Q7?

Not from China, which imported petrol only. Tell us if a diesel is what you want and we will quote it from a market that had it rather than substituting quietly.

Which model years can actually land?

Used vehicles more than twelve years old from year of manufacture are prohibited, which makes 2014 the oldest legally importable year in 2026. We work to 2015 and newer.
