Description

These are men's full-length cargo and work trousers with pockets set on the leg, made for bulk buyers rather than for a single shop counter. The range runs from soft cotton twill in fashion colours through to heavier polyester-cotton and ripstop cut for a work site, and the same waist grading is used across all of them, so a mixed order still arrives with consistent sizing.

The difference between the two versions is cloth weight and what happens at the seams. A fashion cargo is cut for drape and stitched single needle, while a work trouser carries a heavier twill, double-needle stress seams and reinforcement at the knee and seat. That construction is why a work trouser costs more per piece than a fashion cargo which looks identical in a photograph.

Two groups buy this style in volume. Retailers and market traders take the olive, camo and wide-leg cuts, which sell on appearance and on where the pockets sit. Industrial and uniform buyers take plain navy, grey and khaki in the heavier cloth, because a work trouser is judged on how many wash cycles it survives rather than on how it hangs.

Specification

These are the points that decide whether the trousers suit a market stall or a work site. Every one is confirmed against the specific supplier and against an approved sample before we quote.

Style	Men's full-length cargo and work trousers, cut straight, tapered, wide leg or with an elasticated jogger cuff. Casual shorts are a separate line and are covered on their own page.
Fabric	Cotton twill, polyester-cotton and ripstop are the three standard cloths. Cotton twill is softest and fades fastest. Ripstop resists tearing and holds its shape, and polyester-cotton sits between the two and dries quickest after a wash.
Fabric weight	Commonly 200 to 260 GSM for a fashion cargo and 260 to 320 GSM for a work trouser. Lighter cloth drapes and costs less; heavier cloth survives a work-site wash cycle. Ask for the figure in writing, because a photograph will not tell you.
Pockets	Typically six to eight pockets, with two flapped cargo pockets on the legs and bar tacks at the pocket mouths. A flat patch pocket sags once anything is carried in it. Confirm the count and the closure before ordering.
Seam construction	Single needle throughout on a fashion cargo. A work trouser is double needle at the seat, inseam and knee, often with a second layer of cloth over the knee. Ask which seams are double needle rather than accepting the word reinforced.
Zip and buttons	A metal zip and a shank waistband button outlast a moulded plastic zip and a sewn-through button by a wide margin. This is the cheapest place a factory saves money and the first place your customer notices.
Waist adjustment	Belt loops as standard, with an elasticated side waist or an internal drawcord on some cuts. An adjustable waist widens the range each piece fits and cuts the number of unsellable sizes left in the carton.
Minimum order	1,000 pieces across the whole order, not per colour. Colours, cuts and sizes are mixed freely within that figure.
Size range	Typically 30 to 44 on the waist, or M to 4XL where the factory grades by letter. Ask for the waist and inseam chart in centimetres. Asian sizing runs smaller than Nigerian buyers expect, and a trouser in the wrong waist cannot be resold across sizes the way a t-shirt can.
Colour control	Specified by Pantone reference and confirmed by lab dip before bulk production. Olive and khaki shift more than most between dye lots, so a repeat order placed without a reference will not match your first one.
Branding	Woven waistband label, embroidered pocket logo, hang tag and printed care label are all possible on a factory order. Stock purchases arrive with whatever the mill already applied.
Packing	Individually polybagged or bulk packed, with the waist and inseam assortment set per carton. This decides how much sorting you do before the first pair can be sold.

That is worth checking against any other quotation you hold. Minimums in this trade are usually counted per colour, which is where buyers lose money: four colourways on a per-colour minimum of 1,000 is a 4,000-piece commitment and four times the cash. Ask every supplier whether their figure is per style, per colour or per size run, and get the answer in writing.

Custom labels, custom colours and non-standard waist grading each tend to carry their own minimum on top. A first order is nearly always better placed on stock colours in a standard waist and inseam run.

What decides the right one

Buyer against build comes first. A fashion cargo and a work trouser can look identical in a photograph and they fail in opposite ways, so settle who is buying before anything else. A trader who orders the work version pays for weight the customer will never notice.

Then weight against climate. A 320 GSM twill earns its place on a site in the north and in harmattan, and it sits unsold in Lagos in March, where anything much above 260 GSM is treated as too hot to wear through a working day.

Then the seams, which decide whether there is a second order. Double needle at the seat and knee costs a little more per piece and is the difference between a uniform contract renewing and a batch coming back split at the seat after one wash cycle.

Then the sample, which is the one part of this worth being slow about. Approve a physical pair before bulk production starts, put it through one wash, and keep it in your office. It settles every argument afterwards, and without one you have no position at all when the goods do not match the conversation.
