Laptops, tablets, mobile handsets, monitors, printers, accessories and small consumer electronics, sourced in commercial quantities for retailers, computer villages, corporate buyers fitting out an office, and businesses buying for their own use.

This is a fast moving category where model numbers change quarterly and a specification agreed in one month can quietly become a different product in the next. It is also the category where the difference between the genuine article and something that resembles it is hardest to see in a photograph.

Three checks before you order

NCC type approval. The Nigerian Communications Commission operates a type approval regime for communications equipment brought into and used in Nigeria, and it maintains a public database of approved models. A handset outside it can be sold and can still disappoint, through poor network compatibility, dropped calls and problems reaching emergency numbers. Checking a model against that database costs nothing and takes minutes.

SONCAP. Electronic products fall within the Standards Organisation of Nigeria conformity programme, and certification happens at origin before shipment. Arranging it after the goods arrive is slow and expensive.

The warranty. Manufacturer warranties are frequently regional, and a unit built for another market may carry no support here at all. Ask specifically whether the warranty is honoured in Nigeria and by whom. If the answer is nobody, that is not necessarily a reason to walk away, but it is a reason to price the goods differently and to say so to your own customers.

There is a fourth point worth stating plainly. Used compressors, and used fridges, freezers and air conditioners, are on the Customs prohibition list. For used IT and consumer equipment more broadly the position depends on the goods and on their condition, and non-working equipment shipped as merchandise is an electronic waste problem rather than a trade. We check the position for the specific consignment before quoting, and we do not handle goods we cannot land legally.

Specification

Exact model and part number	Not the marketing name. The same laptop name covers several configurations at quite different prices, and the part number is what settles which one you are buying.
